UniChem unveils new medical record system

A NEW Pharmacy Operating System (POS) unveiled by UniChem on 4 July will have a new patient medical record (PMR) system called Enigma at its heart, says John Davidson, management services director. Enigma will provide product and drug databases, enhanced endorsing and repeat prescription management. Other advantages of POS include complete retail management solutions, support for professional services and enhanced interaction with the wholesaler. The basic service will be offered to UniChem and non-UniChem customers although UniChem customers will have access to a more advanced service, he says. The POS will also provide a link to UniChem’s Pharmology internet service through one computer terminal. A pilot of the Enigma PMR system is to start this month and it is expected to be launched next year, with the full POS following in 2003.
