Remuneration

Proactive approach needed

From Mr J. Bradshaw, MPSNI

I have been shocked by some of the letters in The Pharmaceutical Journal in past weeks. First, we need to become proactive in our approach as pharmacists: it is of no use waiting for the Government to remunerate us before we start schemes to improve patient care. We must evolve our service at every opportunity. By doing this we will develop the trust and respect of the public who will indirectly pay for the service we provide through their visits to our pharmacies. Secondly, we must, as stated (PJ, 4 August) document our interventions in the hope that the Government will recognise our added value soon.

Jonathan Bradshaw
Bangor, Northern Ireland
