Dry mouth

Potential interactions with grapefruit

From Mr M. Rowland, MRPharmS

May I add to the comments on the advice for dry mouth (PJ, 30 June). It is suggested that segments of grapefruit be sucked to stimulate saliva production. Since many patients will be on multiple medicines it probably would not be wise to suggest this without first checking for potential interactions.
