Internet and e-mail services pilot scheme discontinuedA pilot scheme designed to provide members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society with internet access and free e-mail addresses has come to an end with the decision taken not to continue with the scheme. The Society is now examining other ways of offering internet and e-mail services to members. Since last autumn the Society has been running the pilot trial in association with Health-media.net, a news and professional information service provider. The aim was to provide all members with internet browser software and a personalised Society e-mail address. However, the Society has now decided that the benefits members would have enjoyed are not sufficiently attractive to justify taking the scheme further. Charles Fry, the Societys Director of Publications, said: The Society is still exploring how best to achieve the original aims of the project, which were to facilitate direct communication with the membership by e-mail, and to provide some added value information services. |
