Recall Hydralazine 25mg tablets


Prescription Products

Xefo tablets and injection

Composition: Tablets, lornoxicam 4mg and 8mg; injection (reconstituted) 8mg/2ml.

Presentation: Film-coated tablets; powder for injection.

Class: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the oxicam family.

Indications: Tablets and injection, treatment of moderate postoperative pain such as pain after dental surgery and treatment of pain associated with acute lumbo-sciatica. Lornoxicam tablets are also indicated for symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Major cautions: Both lornoxicam tablets and injection must not be administered to patients under 18 years of age. Lornoxicam injection must not be given to those aged 65 years and over.

SPC changes

Varidase Topical

The summary of product characteristics for Wyeth’s Varidase Topical (streptokinase, streptodornase) powder has been revised. The pharmaceutical form section now says: “Powder and solvent for solution for cutaneous use or powder for solution for cutaneous use.” “Do not freeze” has been added to the special precautions for storage section.

Efexor XL capsules

The licensed indications for Wyeth’s Efexor (venlafaxine) XL 75mg and 150mg capsules have been extended. Efexor XL is additionally licensed for the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder. The recommended dose for this indication is 75mg once daily. Patients should be reviewed at regular intervals and treatment discontinued after eight weeks if there is no evidence of a clinical response.

Pharmax is currently out of stock of Saventrine (isoprenaline hydrochloride 1mg/ml) IV strong sterile solution 2ml ampoules. The company is unable as yet to say when supplies will be available.
