Lifetime achievement awards and Høst-Madsen medal presented

During the opening ceremony, lifetime achievement awards were presented to Dr Robert Osterhaus, of Iowa, United States, and to Peter Rollason, of Zimbabwe. The awards were presented for “exemplary service and commitment to their profession throughout their careers” by Dr Dieter Steinbach, chairman of the FIP Foundation for Education and Research.

The Høst-Madsen medal, FIP’s highest science award, was presented to Dr Leslie Benet, of California, United States, by Dr Yuichi Sugiyama, chairman of FIP’s Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The medal is provided by the Danish Pharmaceutical Society in commemoration of a former president of FIP.
