Consultation starts on HA boundaries

Members of the public and patients are to be consulted on the proposed changes to the boundaries of health authorities.

All current health authorities in England are to disappear by April 2002 being replaced an expected 28 strategic health authorities.

The Department of Health wants the new boundaries to line up with clinical networks, such as those for cancer services, and local authority and Government office boundaries.

There are 22 simultaneous consultation exercises taking place. Details can be found on the internet here. Printed copies of the consultation documents are available from NHS regional offices.
