Locums

What are your services worth?

From Mr T. R. Anderson, MRPharmS

I completely support Michael Samson (PJ, 22 September, p383) regarding pay-rates for locums and the employment strategies of multiple chain stores. A locum pharmacist should, I believe, demand at least £1,000 per week or a basic rate of £30 per hour for shorter periods. To those who say this is unrealistic, I ask: how much do you pay your local plumber, electrician, locksmith, etc, for their services? Do you rate your importance to be more or less? If you do not agree with these figures, what are your services worth as a professional person?
