Huntingdon MD wins industry award
Brian Cass, chief operating officer and managing director
of Huntingdon Life Sciences, has won the Pharmaceutical Times industry
award for outstanding achievement 2001.
The award is given to the person who has achieved
most for the pharmaceutical industry during the past year, and who has
been selected by pharmaceutical industry directors.
This year, 80 per cent of the directors who took
part in the vote chose Mr Cass. Others nominated for the award were Alan
Milburn, Secretary of State for Health; Professor Michael Rawlins, chief
executive, National Institute for Clinical Excellence; and Professor Trevor
Jones, director general, Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry.
The award was presented to Mr Cass after an Oxford
Union debate on the motion This house believes that patients have become
a cost to the NHS, not its inspiration on 27 September. The result of
the debate went in favour of the motion.
