Curtain goes up at Nottingham school
The refurbished pharmacy school at the University of
Nottingham was officially opened by Marshall Davies, President of the
Royal Pharmaceutical Society, this week.
Mr Davies congratulated the schools staff on their
research achievements and their standard of teaching. He said: Pharmacy
higher education does not come cheap. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society
will lobby for improvements, not cuts, in the unit of resource, to see
the capital investment here fully realise its potential.
Schools of pharmacy have a crucial role to play
in preparing undergraduates, and in creating a mindset for a working life
of constant evolution and change. These new facilities provide the physical
resources for this to be achieved.
Guests at the opening of the school tested their
knowledge of pharmacy law and ethics using the computer aided learning
facilities within the pharmacy practice laboratory, which was opened last
year. Professor Martyn Davies, head of the pharmacy school, described
the laboratory as unique and said it represented a major investment.
