£165,000 to see if prescription charge deters
patients
Research to find out if prescription charges are a
barrier to meeting primary health care goals is to be paid for by under
the National Primary Care Award Scheme.
Dr Ellen Schafheutle, a clinical pharmacist researcher
based at Manchester University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical
Sciences, has been granted a three-year post-doctoral research award funded
jointly by the Department of Health and the PPP Healthcare Medical Trust.
The award is one of 12 announced by the National
Health Services director of research and development, Sir John Pattison,
on 10 October. The total value of the 12 awards is £2.5m.
