Nottingham donates £1,200 to children’s brain tumour charity

David Walker receives a cheque from Chris Plant, who was branch chairman for 2000–01

The Nottingham branch of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has made a charitable donation of £1,200 to support the work of the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre at the University of Nottingham.

A cheque was presented to the research centre’s founder, Dr David A. Walker, at a meeting of the branch on 8 October, when Dr Walker and Dr Paul Scotting, a research geneticist from the charity, described the work of the centre and the clinical and scientific breakthroughs it is achieving.

The money had been raised by the branch on 10 March at its annual dinner dance, at which Dr Walker had been one of the principal guests. Just under £1,000 was raised for the same charity at the previous year’s dinner dance.
