Fenofibrate capsules

Fenofibrate 200mg capsules, pack size 28, have been launched (Bioglan Generics); net price, £17.40.

Distamine tablets

The product licences for Distamine (penicillamine) 125mg and 250mg tablets have been transferred from Eli Lilly to Alliance Pharmaceuticals. Supplies will continue to be in Eli Lilly's livery until new packaging is available. Orders and customer services enquiries should be directed to the Alliance sales office (tel 01249 466974). SPC changes

Symmetrel capsules

The summary of product characteristics for Symmetrel (amantadine) 100mg capsules has been amended (Alliance Pharmaceuticals). Symmetrel capsules are no longer licensed for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza A. The capsules are now only indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and painful rash associated with herpes zoster. The licensed indications for Symmetrel syrup are unchanged.

Seroxat new indication

The licensed indications for Seroxat (paroxetine) have been extended (GlaxoSmithKline). Seroxat is now additionally licensed for the treatment of symptoms and prevention of relapse of generalised anxiety disorder.

Pragmatar cream

The following statement has been added to the special warnings and precautions for use section of the summary of product characteristics for Pragmatar (cetyl alcohol-coal tar distillate, salicylic acid, sulphur [precipitated]) cream: "Avoid use on genital or rectal areas". See below also.

Fenbid Forte Gel

Fenbid Forte (ibuprofen) 10 per cent gel is now back in stock and available from wholesalers (Goldshield Pharmaceuticals).
