Leicester and Rutland branch celebrates Diwali festival
Pharmacists from the Leicester and Rutland branch
of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society celebrated Diwali, the Hindu Festival
of Lights, on 3 November.
The event, organised by local community pharmacist
Divyesh Shah and former chairman of the branch Rajni Hindocha was the
fifth annual Diwali celebration by the branch.
Around 200 pharmacists and their families sat down
to dinner at the Wigston Stage Hotel and watched performances by Asian
dancers and musicians.
Also during the evening, events were organised to
collect for several charities, including the Neema project a project
to build and run a dispensary for 5,000 people living in and around Kiromo,
a rural village in Tanzania.
