Nominations sought for Conference science awards

Nominations are being sought by the science secretariat of the British Pharmaceutical Conference for the GlaxoSmithKline International Achievement Award 2002 and the AstraZeneca Industrial Achievement Award 2002. The closing date for nominations for both awards is 30 November.

Each award consists of a cheque for £1,000, a commemorative presentation, and reimbursement of expenses to allow the award winner to attend the British Pharmaceutical Conference in Manchester in September 2002 to give a lecture.

The GlaxoSmithKline award recognises a recent substantial advance in the application of scientific knowledge within the pharmaceutical sciences. The AstraZeneca award is given for an outstanding contribution to either the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences or services to the pharmaceutical industry.

In each case, nomination may be made either by the scientists concerned or by others on their behalf. Nominations should be made by 30 November 2001 to the Science Secretary, Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN. Enquiries should be made to the same address (e-mail science@rpsgb.org.uk).
