Dr Phillida Entwistle joins Society's Council as new
Privy Council nominee
The
Privy Council has appointed Dr Phillida Entwistle to serve as one of its
three nominees on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council.
Dr Entwistle replaces Mrs Terri Banks, who retired
from the Council in August after nearly five years' service as a Privy
Council-nominated lay member.
Dr Entwistle is part-time Mental Health Act manager
at Ashworth Hospital, Liverpool's high-security psychiatric hospital.
Her previous public service appointments includes membership of the Mental
Health Act Commission and of Liverpool Family Health Services Authority.
More recently, she served as chairman of the former Furness Hospitals
NHS Trust (now absorbed into Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Trust). She is
a member of council of Lancaster University.
Privy Council nominee members of the Society's Council
are appointed for three-year terms, which are renewable. The other Privy
Council nominee members are Dr John Evans, who has served since 1987,
and Professor Michael Schofield, who was appointed in 1999.
