Dr Phillida Entwistle joins Society's Council as new Privy Council nominee

The Privy Council has appointed Dr Phillida Entwistle to serve as one of its three nominees on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council.

Dr Entwistle replaces Mrs Terri Banks, who retired from the Council in August after nearly five years' service as a Privy Council-nominated lay member.

Dr Entwistle is part-time Mental Health Act manager at Ashworth Hospital, Liverpool's high-security psychiatric hospital. Her previous public service appointments includes membership of the Mental Health Act Commission and of Liverpool Family Health Services Authority. More recently, she served as chairman of the former Furness Hospitals NHS Trust (now absorbed into Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Trust). She is a member of council of Lancaster University.

Privy Council nominee members of the Society's Council are appointed for three-year terms, which are renewable. The other Privy Council nominee members are Dr John Evans, who has served since 1987, and Professor Michael Schofield, who was appointed in 1999.
