Health Committee to investigate NICEThe House of Commons Health Select Committee is to hold a short inquiry into the National Institute for Clinical Excellence and its work during January. The committee will consider the progress NICE has made on providing clear and credible guidance and faster access to treatments in relation to the aims set for it in the National Health Service plan. It will also specifically examine the independence of NICE. The committee is calling for written evidence to be submitted by 4 January 2002. Oral evidence sessions will be held in January on dates to be agreed. Guidance on submitting written evidence to the committee can be obtained from Frank McShane on 020 7219 5466. |
