Wellcome Trust sells £1.8bn GSK stake

The Wellcome Trust has sold 100 million shares in GlaxoSmithKline raising £1.8bn. The medical charity was founded in 1936 by Sir Henry Wellcome and before the latest disposal held a 2.5 per cent stake in GSK. The Wellcome Trust has £13bn in assets and funds £600m of scientific research a year.
