Pharmacist is Isle of Man Chief MinisterRichard Corkhill, MRPharmS, has been appointed Chief Minister of the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man's parliament, the Tynwald, is the oldest continuous legislature in the world. The Tynwald has two branches, the House of Keys and the Legislative Council. The Chief Minister is nominated from among the 24 members of the House of Keys and appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of the island, which is a Crown Dependency and not part of the United Kingdom. Mr Corkhill joined the House of Keys in 1991 and became treasury minister in 1996; he registered as a pharmacist in 1974. |
