Martindale to be published in Spanish

A Spanish language edition of Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference is to be the first publication of a new company set up as a joint initiative by the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's imprint) and a Barcelona-based medical publisher, STM Editores.

The new company, Pharma Editores, will combine editorial content provided by the Pharmaceutical Press with STM's publishing expertise. It is expected to become a leading force in publishing for Spanish-speaking pharmacists and other health care professionals.

The Spanish edition of Martindale, due out at the end of 2002, will be a complete translation of the 33rd English language edition scheduled for publication in April. Other Pharmaceutical Press titles are also being considered for translation.

Commenting on the joint venture, the Society's President, Marshall Davies, said: "The Society is proud of its publications. Normally they are available only in English, but nevertheless they are widely regarded around the world as indispensable tools for pharmacists and other health care professionals seeking to deliver high quality care. This exciting development will mean that Spanish speaking pharmacists will now have the chance to use these publications in their own language."

Pedro de la Rosa, chief executive and founder of STM Editores, commented: that the future products of Pharma Editores would provide added value to Spanish speaking health professionals Because both parties were deeply committed to new technologies, the information would also be available in digital format.
