Relief of eye pain controls migraine

Treating eye pain can control other migraine symptoms, a study suggests. Researchers treated five migraine patients with dexamethasone and methylprednisolone injected directly into the inflamed trochlea. Treatment produced relief of eye pain and associated migraine symptoms within 48 to 72 hours. The researchers suggest that steroid treatment should be considered for other types of headache with eye pain (Neurology 2002;58:802).
