Prescription Products

Tritace tablets

A multi-strength pack of Tritace (ramipril) tablets has been launched (Aventis Pharma); net price, £13 per pack. Each pack contains 7 x 2.5mg tablets, 21 x 5mg tablets and 7 x 10mg tablets.

Moclobemide tablets

Moclobemide 150mg and 300mg tablets have been launched (Lagap Pharmaceuticals) ; net price, 150mg 30 £10.03, 300mg 30 £15.04.

Alpharma products

The following products are now being supplied in Alpharma livery:

• Co-codamol 8/500 (codeine phosphate 8mg, paracetamol 500mg) tablets, pack size 28

• Nitrazepam 5mg tablets, pack size 28

SPC changes

Ludiomil tablets

The summary of product characteristics for Ludiomil tablets has been updated (Novartis Pharmaceuticals). The special warnings and precautions for use section now includes a warning regarding hyponatraemia. The interactions section has also been revised. See SPC.

Anexate injection

The instructions for use section of the summary of product characteristics for Anexate (flumazenil) 0.5mg/5ml ampoules has been revised (Roche Products). Anexate infusion should be administered within three hours of preparation. See SPC.

Discontinued products

Oxypertine preparations

Oxypertine 10mg capsules and oxypertine 40mg tablets are being discontinued because of manufacturing problems (Sanofi-Synthelabo). Sanofi-Synthelabo will provide a three-month supply of oxypertine 10mg capsules on an "as needed basis" only until 31 May. After this the 10mg capsules will no longer be available. Oxypertine 40mg tablets will be discontinued from 31 August.

Wyeth products

The following products have been discontinued with immediate effect (Wyeth Laboratories):

• Ativan (lorazepam) 1mg tablets, pack size 100

• Ativan 2.5mg tablets, pack size 100

• Aureomycin (chlortetracycline) 1 per cent ophthalmic ointment, pack size 3.5g

• Equagesic (ethoheptazine citrate 75mg, meprobamate 150mg, aspirin 250mg) tablets, pack size 100

• Pipril (piperacillin) 2g injection

Roaccutane capsules

Roaccutane (isotretinoin) 20mg capsules, pack size 56, have been discontinued and replaced by packs of 60 capsules (Roche Products).
