Germans step up generic dispensing

Germany has introduced measures to increase generic dispensing to save money for its statutory health insurance system. Pharmacists are now obliged to supply generics chosen from the cheapest third of those available if doctors prescribe branded medicines without specifying on the prescription that the brand must be supplied.
