Hair loss with dopamine agonists

Two case reports of alopecia induced by dopamine agonists are described in the current issue of Neurology (2002;58:829). Both cases involve women treated with pramipexole (Mirapexin). The first noticed hair loss two months after starting treatment, which stopped within two weeks of a change in medication to ropinirole. In the second patient, hair loss continued after pramipexole was substituted with ropinirole and only stopped after ropinirole was replaced with levodopa treatment.
