Zindaclin gel

Zindaclin (clindamycin phosphate) 1 per cent gel is being launched (Strakan); net price, £8.66. The product is licensed for the treatment of acne vulgaris.

Aurum packaging

Aurum Pharmaceuticals is introducing new packaging for its range of prefilled syringes. The new packaging is being phased in during 2002. The packaging has now been changed for the following two products in the range (see below):

• Adrenaline 1 in 10,000 10ml

• Atropine 1mg in 5ml

NovoMix 30 products

NovoMix 30 (insulin aspart) 100iu/ml Penfill cartridges (net price, 5 x 3ml £26.78) and NovoMix 30 100iu/ml Flexpen (net price, 5 x 3ml £29.59) have been launched (Novo Nordisk).

Alpharma products

The following products are now being supplied in Alpharma livery:

• Co-codamol 8/500 (codeine phosphate 8mg, paracetamol 500mg) tablets, pack size 100

• Dispersible aspirin 75mg tablets, pack size 100

• Metformin 500mg tablets, pack size 28

• Prednisolone EC 2.5mg tablets, pack size 28

• Prochlorperazine 5mg tablets, pack size 84 (new pack size)

SPC changes

Eloxatin infusion

The summary of product characteristics for Eloxatin (oxaliplatin) 5mg/ml powder for solution for infusion has been updated (Sanofi-Synthelabo). Paralytic ileus and intestinal obstruction, as a result of severe diarrhoea or emesis, have been added to both the special warnings and the undesirable effects sections. The undesirable effects section now also states that rare cases of Clostridium difficile and isolated cases of optic neuritis have been reported. The paragraph on pharyngolaryngeal dysaesthesia has been revised.

Counter medicines

Diflucan One capsules

Diflucan One (fluconazole) 150mg capsules are now licensed as a pharmacy medicine for the treatment of candidal balanitis (penile thrush) associated with vaginal candidiasis.
