Dr Reddy's buys contract companyIndian pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy's has bought BMS Laboratories and its subsidiary Meridian Healthcare for more than £9m. The deal is the first overseas acquisition by Dr Reddy's. BMS Laboratories was founded by Dr Andrew Brodrick, MRPharmS, a former hospital pharmacist, in 1988. It acquired Meridian (formerly DDSA Manufacturing) in 1999. BMS manufactures non-prescription medicines and generics for companies including Reckitt Benckiser and Seven Seas at its factory in Beverley, Humberside. Dr Brodrick said that he was pleased that the agreement would secure the jobs of the 50-strong workforce. Dr Brodrick is to retire from BMS when the deal is finalised. |
