American guidelines include PlavixThe American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association have updated their guidelines for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome to include clopidogrel (Plavix). The guidelines recommend that the drug should be added to standard therapy in unstable angina and in non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (non-Q wave MI). The guidelines support clopidogrel's use for people treated either with drug therapy alone or with surgical intervention. Clopidogrel is not currently licensed for these indications in the United Kingdom. |
