EHC ruling imminentThe High Court judge hearing the case brought by the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children is expected to give his ruling shortly (PJ, 16 February, p198). In theory, if the SPUC's case under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 is successful, all non-barrier forms of contraception could be outlawed. Lesser rulings might ban the sale or supply of emergency hormonal contraception or merely its sale as a pharmacy medicine. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is planning to issue relevant guidance to members through its website (www.rpsgb.org.uk) once the decision has been made public. |
