Company chemists seek full-time chief executiveThe Company Chemists Association, which represents the largest pharmacy multiples, is to appoint its first full-time chief executive who will be based at new offices in Milton Keynes. Digby Emson, chairman of the CCA, told The Journal on 12 April that the new positions of chief executive and head of marketing and operations would be the first full-time positions in the association's 104-year history. "These appointments will enable the CCA to deliver its vision of a positive profile for community pharmacy," he said. As well as speaking for the CCA and co-ordinating its activities, the new chief executive will be expected to try and increase the membership of the association to encompass other pharmacy chains that have national coverage. The chief executive will be a member of the CCA's board of management. The head of marketing and operations will be supporting CCA representatives on local pharmaceutical committees and establishing a CCA website. Mr Emson said that he wanted the appointment process for the new positions to be seen as open and transparent. The posts are to be advertised shortly. Since its formation in 1898, the CCA has been based at the headquarters of Boots The Chemists at Nottingham. Its new offices are described as being centrally located and convenient for all the other CCA member companies Lloydspharmacy, Moss Pharmacy, Sainsbury's, Safeway, Superdrug and Tesco. |
