Psychological interventions not useful in epilepsy

No reliable evidence supports the use of psychological interventions in treating epilepsy, researchers say. An analysis of studies using psychological interventions, including relaxation therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, showed conflicting results for the reduction of seizure frequency and improvement in quality of life in patients with epilepsy.

The findings of the analysis were presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in Denver, Colorado, on 16 April.
