Boots to sell HalfordsThe Boots Co Plc is to demerge Halfords, its car parts and cycle retailing subsidiary. The sale of Halfords, which made profits of £37m on a turnover of £509m last year, will mean that Boots has disposed of all of the former parts of the Ward White conglomerate acquired at a cost of £900m in 1989. While Boots is expected to raise around £430m from Halfords, other the parts were sold at a loss. |
