New head of business development for PJ Publications
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has appointed Philippa Stahelin as head of business development for PJ Publications. Mrs Stahelin has taken responsibility for managing the media sales team and developing and implementing a strategy for The Pharmaceutical Journal and its sister publications to enhance their reputation and financial contribution to the Society. She will work closely with the editorial director of PJ Publications, Olivia Timbs, and will pursue both existing and new revenue-generating activities in all media. Mrs Stahelin has worked in publishing within the pharmaceutical industry for 17 years. For 15 she worked at Haymarket Medical Publications in the medical advertising department across a range of medical publications and in various sales capacities. She reached the position of sales director of the ethical division in 1989 and was later appointed to the board. Her responsibilities covered all Haymarket's medical titles GP, MIMS, Medeconomics and Medical Imprint. She has also undertaken recent project work for Medicom UK and Pharmafile. Mrs Stahelin said: "I am very much looking forward to the challenge of applying my skills and medical media experience to the PJ publications, especially at a time when the role of pharmacists is being recognised as vital to the delivery of the NHS plan." Mrs Stahelin succeeds Jack Richmond, who recently retired from the Society's staff after nearly 30 years as advertising manager (PJ, 23 February, p263). |
