Metabolic problems with HAARTMetabolic abnormalities occurred in 75 per cent of patients on highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART) in a study in Slovenia. The most common effects were hyperlipidaemia and insulin resistance. Raised cholesterol levels occurred in 21 per cent of patients and raised triglycerides in 49 per cent. |
