New website for Pharmaceutical Press
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing division, the Pharmaceutical Press, has relaunched its website (www.pharmpress.com) with a new design and additional features to help purchasers, booksellers and prospective authors. For purchasers, the web catalogue offers expanded information about the titles available, including details of all electronic publications. Further information about some of the products is available by downloading PDF files or PowerPoint presentations. There are also plans to make available sample text from new publications and update information for existing publications. The site now offers an e-mail alert service to provide website updates, information on new publications and other news. Publications can be purchased online by credit card using a secure server. The site also provides detailed information and guidance for prospective authors, including an explanation of how to write a project proposal for a new book. A sample proposal is provided. Authors whose proposals have been accepted have access to comprehensive guidance on such matters as preparing the manuscript, complying with Pharmaceutical Press editorial style, preparing tables and illustrations, obtaining permissions, avoiding bias and compiling indexes. Information is also provided on what happens within the Pharmaceutical Press once a manuscript has been accepted. Another new section of the site is available only to booksellers and authorised distributors. It gives them advance information about forthcoming publications and allows them to download marketing materials and to place online orders. |
