Senior pharmacist for safe practices post at National Patient Safety Agency

The appointment of a senior pharmacist to the National Patient Safety Agency was announced this week.

Dr David Cousins is to take up the new position of head of safe medication practices. He will head a team of professionals whose remit is to improve the patient experience of the National Health Service and help it to deliver important aspects of the NHS plan.

Dr Cousins told The Journal: "I am delighted to have been offered this post. I have been working and publishing in the area of patient safety for 10 years or more, and I see my new position as an extension and development of that work."

Dr Cousins will be leaving South Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in September where he has been chief pharmacist for 19 years.
