'Herbal medicines' now on CD-ROM

A new edition of 'Herbal medicines' is now available from the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing division) in both print and CD-ROM versions.

'Herbal medicines' was first published in 1996 to provide health care professionals with a guide to herbs commonly used in complementary and alternative medicine. The new edition has been expanded to include new herbal materials and to take account of recently published literature. The 544-page hardback book costs £39.95.

The book includes structured, monographs on the most commonly used herbs, The addition of seven new monographs brings the total to 148. Information on the phytochemical, pharmacological and clinical aspects of herbal medicines includes data on use, dosage, safety, efficacy and interactions.

The CD-ROM version, which costs £75 + VAT, is available in a single-user or network (intranet) version. A book and CD-ROM package costs £99 + VAT.

'Herbal medicines' is written by three pharmacists, Dr Joanne Barnes, Dr Linda Anderson and Professor David Phillipson.
