Marshall Davies elected President for second term
The Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has re-elected Marshall Davies as President of the Society and Dr Gill Hawksworth as Vice-President. Kirit Patel has been elected Treasurer in succession to David Allen, who has retired from the Council. The election took place at a meeting of the Council on 12 June. Mr Davies was one of two candidates in the election of the President, beating Ashwin Tanna by 15 votes to seven in a ballot. Dr Hawksworth was the sole candidate for the post of Vice-President. In the election of the Treasurer, Mr Patel faced competition from four other candidates Hassan Argomandkhah, Peter Curphey, Andrew Burr and Linda Stone. Four ballots were necessary before Mr Patel gained the required overall majority of votes. Mr Curphey was eliminated in the first ballot, Mr Burr in the second and Mr Argomandkhah in the third. In the final ballot, Mr Patel received 12 votes to Mrs Stone's 10. |
