Anapen transfer

Celltech Pharmaceuticals will take responsibility for Anapen (adrenaline) and Anapen Junior auto injectors with effect from 1 July. From then on orders should be placed on 0800 953 0183 (fax 0800 953 0184).

Solaraze transfer

Shire Pharmaceuticals has taken responsibility for Solaraze (diclo-fenac) gel. Further information can be obtained from Shire's customer services (tel 01256 894107, fax 01256 894706) or medical information department (tel 01256 894000).

Wyeth products

Responsibility for medical information enquiries for the following products will be transferred from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals to Goldshield Pharmaceuticals on 1 July:

• Audicort (triamcinolone acetonide, neomycin) 10ml ear drops

Hexalen capsules

Ipsen has stopped marketing and distributing Hexalen (altretamine) 50mg capsules in the United Kingdom and all orders and enquires should now be directed to MGI Pharma in the United States (fax 00 1 952 346 4853, e-mail jlambert@mgipharma.com).

UKCPA autumn symposium

The closing date for submissions of papers for the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association's autumn symposium is 19 July. A submission form and guidance notes, together with a programme and registration form for the symposium, should reach members by 1 July. Details of requirements can be obtained from the UKCPA office, Alpha House, Countesthorpe Road, South Wigston, Leicestershire LE18 4PJ (tel 0116 277 6999). Papers presented at the symposium will be adjudicated for the UKCPA's GlaxoSmithKline awards.

April retail sales figures

The value of retail sales for April, 2002, under the classification of pharmaceutical sales, was up eight points at 125.

The classification of the retail sale of pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic and toilet goods excludes National Health Service receipts. The figures are based on returns made by a number of large retail pharmacy chains, but exclude Boots The Chemists Ltd, which is classified under non-specialised retail stores. The figures are compiled by the Office for National Statistics.
