Society hosts symposium on antibiotic resistance

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is hosting a two-day multidisciplinary symposium on "Anti-infectives: the way forward" next week. The aim of the meeting is to broaden discussion on the response to antibiotic resistance to cover the range of life sciences that have an interest in antibiotics.

The meeting, on 8 and 9 July, will examine the scale of the resistance problem, novel strategies, strategies for new drug development, clinical challenges, prescribing practices and resistance, and national and international implications.

The symposium has been organised by the Society and the Institute of Biology, with support from the Department of Health, the Medical Research Council, the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and a number of specialist organisations. It also has support from AstraZeneca and Bayer.
