1,392 pass registration examinationNearly 1,400 pharmacy graduates have passed the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's July registration examination this year. Out of 1,470 candidates, 1,392 were successful. The number of passes is slightly down on 2000's record figure of 1,438 but higher than in any other year since the examination was introduced in 1993. This year's figures bring the number of passes back to a more normal level after a slack year in 2001, when there were only 370 passes. The change from a three-year to a four-year pharmacy degree course in England and Wales meant that few graduates from those countries completed their preregistration training last summer. This year, for the first time, a list of candidates who have passed the registration examination is being posted on the internet. Candidates have been told that the list will appear on the education section of the Society's website by 4pm on Friday 19 July. The pass list will also be published in the 27 July issue of The Pharmaceutical Journal. The Society asks employers to note that the appearance of a name on the pass list does not mean that the person concerned has been registered as a pharmacist. Successful candidates may not start work as pharmacists until they have received confirmation of registration and been given their registration numbers. |
