Alex Kelso (Northern Scottish branch), Fiona Evans (Weald of Kent branch), Paul Gimson (Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan branch), Elisabeth Bennett (chairman, Mersey region), Martin Orpin (secretary, Jersey branch), Sally Fairbrother (vice-chairman, South Cheshire branch), Andy Lawson (secretary, Exeter branch), Catherine Leask (Shropshire branch) and Stephen Hughes (secretary, Lincoln branch)

Representatives from Royal Pharmaceutical Society branches in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands were welcomed as observers at this month's meeting of the Society's Council.

During the course of the meeting, the nine observers witnessed a Council debate on issues relating to the Society's modernisation programme and saw presentations highlighting the Society's plans for continuing professional development (see p262) and the work of the Pharmacy Health Care Scheme.

The Council invites observers from several branches and regions to attend each of its meetings. Members interested in attending a future meeting should contact their branch secretary for information. The meetings are held on a Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday in alternate months — usually in the first week of the month.
