CPPE starts automated bookings

Pharmacists in England can now book places on workshops run by the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education through an automated telephone booking line.

Pharmacists calling the CPPE on 0161 778 4024 need to give their Royal Pharmaceutical Society registration number, their date of birth and the appropriate reference number from the centre's catalogue. Both workshops and open learning packs can be booked. A computer-generated voice repeats the details and confirmation of the booking is sent within 21 days. The service is available 24 hours a day.

Paul Gray, technology project manager at the CPPE, said that the system has been introduced because the centre is expecting a large increase in business when continuing professional development for pharmacists becomes mandatory. Costs would be saved through not having to recruit extra staff.

Workshops and open learning packs can also be ordered through the CPPE's website (www.cppe.man.ac.uk).
