Pharmacy visits for PCT chairmanThe chairman of Westminster Primary Care Trust, Diana Scott, spent five hours visiting pharmacies in central London recently. She was accompanied by Sultan Dajani, secretary to Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster Local Pharmaceutical Committee and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council. Mrs Scott visited John Bell & Croyden, Wigmore Street, where she was shown the wide range of services available at the flagship of the Lloydspharmacy chain. Store manager Hazel Angus showed Mrs Scott the pharmacy's dispensing procedures and how patient records could be used for medicines management. Mrs Scott then visited Zafash Pharmacy, Wigmore Street, which is open 24 hours a day. Proprietor Zafar Khan explained some of the implications of providing a 24-hour service. A final visit was then made to Colonnades Pharmacy, Porchester Street, where proprietor Harish Kumar described how one of his staff was injured during a recent armed robbery. Mrs Scott told Mr Dajani other members of the PCT board should be encouraged
to make similar visits. She was also in favour of the LPC making a presentation
to the PCT board and its professional executive committee.
