British Pharmaceutical Conference 2002 summary |
Visitors enticed to conference exhibition
Participants in next week's British Pharmaceutical Conference will be able to enjoy a free sandwich lunch when visiting the conference exhibition. Running for the duration of the conference, from 23 to 25 September, the exhibition will include more than 40 exhibits and demonstrations in the exhibition halls of the Manchester International Convention Centre. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society says that the stands will be of interest to all: "Scientific and technological developments will sit alongside information technology and pharmacy in practice to provide a one-stop shop for all those wanting to learn more about the latest developments in their field and to network with colleagues from home and abroad." The Society will have one stand focusing on its plans for continuing professional development and another featuring its membership groups (PJ, 14 September, p377). The Society's publications wing, the Pharmaceutical Press, will also be exhibiting and will offer a 20 per cent discount on a range of publications. Other pharmacy organisations among the exhibitors are the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the College of Pharmacy Practice, the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association, the Institute of Pharmacy Management International, the British Pharmaceutical Students Association and the British Society for the History of Pharmacy. Three Government agencies are included among the exhibitors. They are the Medicines Control Agency, the NHS Information Authority and the Prescription Pricing Authority. Also exhibiting will be the BPC's three main sponsors GlaxoSmithKline (including a stand for GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare R&D), Merck Sharp & Dohme and Boots (through its Crookes Healthcare Ltd subsidiary). Other commercial exhibitors will be Adis International, ARX Ltd, AstraZeneca, Aventis, Cardinal Health, CoAcS Ltd, First DataBank Europe Ltd, Fluent Europe Ltd, Fresenius Kabi Ltd, Galderma (UK) Ltd, Glen Creston Ltd, Jasco (UK) Ltd, La Calhene (GB) Ltd, Map80 Systems Ltd, Pfizer Global Research and Development, Phoenix Healthcare Distribution, Protex Development Ltd, Quality Locum Services, Quintiles Pharmaceutical Sciences, Reed Health Professionals, RSA Search & Selection, Schwarz Pharma Ltd, Sintek Ltd, Stable Micro Systems Ltd, Surgichem Ltd, Wickham Laboratories Ltd and Wisepress Bookshop. |
