Salford PCT seeks pharmacist for development post

Salford Primary Care Trust, one of the first teaching PCTs to be established in England, is looking to recruit a PCT training and practice development prescribing adviser in conjunction with the National Prescribing Centre (see pA27).

Clive Jackson, director of the NPC, told The Journal that teaching PCTs had been introduced to attract new clinical professionals into primary care. "It is important that pharmacy and pharmacists are included in this development."

The NPC decided to fund the post jointly because it saw it as an important first step in assessing how pharmacy could get involved in the teaching PCT role. "We hope to use this experience to develop pharmacy's role still further," Mr Jackson added.
