Homoeopathic hospital to launch own products
The Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital will be launching a range of complementary
medicines and products at the end of this month.
Paul Geoghegan, managing director of RLHH International, the company
set up to market the products and represent the hospital said: This
is totally unique. No NHS hospital has formed a company to bring out products
before.
The first tranch of products will be launched on 31 October and will
include 10 herbal tinctures, five nutritional products and a range of
organic aromatherapy oils. The hospitals homoeopathic range will
be launched in 2003 once licences have been approved by the Medicines
Control Agency.
Mr Geoghegan believes that the products will appeal to pharmacists who
have concerns about some products currently on the market. Pharmacists
want to offer high quality products and face the same confusion experienced
by consumers. We hope this range can remove part of that confusion,
he said.
He explained that the products have been formulated by doctors working
at the RLHH and will be offered to all major retailers and pharmacy groups.
The company also plans to offer training for pharmacists and pharmacy
assistants.
A percentage of all profits will go directly back to the hospital for
research.
The RLHH is currently being refurbished with plans for a new pharmacy
that will be accessible to the public. Funding for the refurbishment was
granted with the caveat that the hospital started to generate its own
income.
