CPD videotapes all despatched

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society says that the last batch of videotapes introducing its continuing professional development programme (PJ, 5 October, p478) was despatched to pharmacists early this week. The video, “Introducing CPD”, is being sent to all members of the Society other than those who pay the reduced retention fee for pharmacists over 60 who are no longer working.
The Society’s education division says that any working pharmacist who has not received a copy of the videotape by the end of the month should telephone 020 7572 2540 or e-mail cpd@rpsgb.org.uk, as should anyone who has received a faulty videotape.

As part of the roll-out of the CPD pilot project, all pharmacists in the Society’s Manchester, Salford and Trafford branch and Stockport branch who are not paying the reduced 60-and-over fee were sent a CPD pack this week. The pack contains an 18-page guide entitled “Plan & record”, plus an online user guide and CD-ROM for those who intend to record their development electronically. It also contains a Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education videotape entitled “CPD: your next move” and an invitation to take part in CPD workshops. Working pharmacists in these branches who have not received the pack by the end of the month are invited to contact the education division, using the telephone number or e-mail address set out above.

CPD packs have also been supplied to senior staff at the Society so that they can adopt the CPD framework in their own work.

Pharmacists who are not part of the CPD roll-out but would like to know more can download the “Plan & record” from the CPD section of the Society’s website at www.rpsgb.org.uk/education, along with a series of fact sheets answering frequently asked questions about CPD. Those without internet access can borrow the “Plan & record” from the Society’s library.
