DNA-repair process disabledA new class of drugs that disable the DNA-repair process after radiotherapy has been developed by researchers at the Cancer Research UK unit, Newcastle University. The researchers explain that the drugs inhibit poly (ADP-ribose) polymerases, thus blocking the action of DNA repair and sensitising cancer cells to radiotherapy. The research was presented at the Cancer Research UK annual conference in Warwickshire this week. |
