The Society

 Law and Ethics Bulletin

An occasional feature, prepared in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Professional Standards Directorate, to highlight problems and inquiries currently being handled

Registered addresses of pharmacists, pharmacy companies and partnerships

Pharmacists are reminded of the requirement to keep the Society up to date with any changes to their registered address. Changes of address must be notified in writing to the Society's registration section. For security reasons, changes in address will not be accepted by telephone.

In addition, pharmacy owners are reminded of the importance of using the pharmacy company's registered address on all correspondence with the Society.

All correspondence and official notices from the Society to corporate bodies or partnerships are sent to the company's registered address. Situations have arisen where the superintendent pharmacist of a company is corresponding using his/her home address rather than the company's registered address. It is important that the retention fee demand letter gets sent to the company's registered address and therefore pharmacists must ensure that the company's registered address is one where the receipt of mail can be guaranteed.
