Coversyl tablets

Conversyl (perindopril) 8mg tablets, pack size 30, are being launched (Servier Laboratories); net price, £14.63.

Omacor capsules

Omacor capsules, containing 1g of 90 per cent concentrate of omega-3-acid ethyl esters (comprising 46 per cent eicosapentaenoic acid and 38 per cent docosahexaenoic acid), have been launched (Solvay Healthcare); net price, 28 £13.89. The product is indicated as adjuvant treatment in secondary prevention after myocardial infarction. It is also licensed for the treatment of endogenous hypertriglyceridaemia as a supplement to diet when dietary measures alone are insufficient to produce an adequate response (as monotherapy in type IV hypertriglyceridaemia and in combination with statins, when control of triglycerides is insufficient, in type IIb/III). SPC changes

Sustiva capsules

The summary of product characteristics has been updated for Sustiva (efavirenz) capsules (Britsol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals). The contraindications section now states that preparations containing St John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) must not be used while taking efavirenz. (It previously stated that such products should not be used.) Carbamazepine has been added to the list of anticonvulsants with which patients may require periodic monitoring of plasma levels if taking taking efavirenz concomitantly. Gynaecomastia and hepatic failure have been added to the undesirable effects section. Under the interactions section additional information on the following agents has been added: amprenavir, lopinavir, ritonavir, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, St John's wort, cetirizine and lorazepam. Blink Revitalising eye-drops

Blink Revitalising eye-drops, for freshening and soothing dry, tired eyes in contact lens wearers, have been launched (Advanced Medical Optics); retail price, multi-dose 10ml bottle £3.99, unit-dose pack 20 x 0.5ml £3.99. The drops contain polyvinyl alcohol 1.4 per cent and sodium chlorite 0.06 per cent.
